Abstract:
Provided is a technology that suppresses the accuracy reduction and enhances the speed of focus detection. An imaging device has a plurality of pixels each having a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements. First pixels constituting a portion of the plurality of pixels are made to output a signal based on the charge arrived at by adding the charges generated by the plurality of photoelectric conversion elements. Separate second pixels are made to output a signal based on a charge generated by a photoelectric conversion element from among the plurality of photoelectric conversion elements disposed in a first position without outputting a signal based on a charge generated by a photoelectric conversion element disposed in a second position. Separate third pixels are made to output a signal based on the charge generated by the photoelectric conversion element disposed in the second position without outputting a signal based on the charge generated by the photoelectric conversion element disposed in the first position.
