Abstract:
This imaging device achieves a broad light control dynamic range and high light control resolution without generating fluctuations in the received light amount due to illumination light pulses in each line of an imaging element. This imaging device is provided with a light source which is pulse-driven to emit light, a light source control unit which drives the light source through pulse modulation to control the amount of light emitted, and an imaging which has an imaging element comprising a plurality of pixels arrayed in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction, and which performs imaging by driving the imaging element by the rolling shutter method. The light source control unit drives the light source with pulses at a timing synchronized with a timing pulse signal, and the period of said timing pulse signal is set to 1/p (p being an integer greater than or equal to 1) of the exposure start timing interval when the imaging element is driven with the rolling shutter method.
