Abstract:
This imaging device is provided with: a focal plane shutter including a substrate which has an opening, a front curtain and a rear curtain which open and close the opening, a front curtain actuator and a rear curtain actuator that drive the front curtain and rear curtain, respectively, and a restricting unit which restricts the range of travel back and forth of the front curtain and the rear curtain; an imaging element onto which light falls through the opening; and a drive control unit which, in order to suppress the difference in the amount of heat generated by the front curtain actuator and the rear curtain actuator in the imaging operation period for imaging a single image, when the restricting unit is restricting the front curtain or the rear curtain from travelling in one direction, additionally energizes the front curtain actuator or the rear curtain actuator such that said front curtain or rear curtain travels in the travel-restricted direction.
