Abstract:
An imaging device (1) is provided with an imaging unit (110) and a control unit (140). The imaging unit captures a subject image formed via an optical system (200) that includes a focus lens (230) to thus create image data. The control unit controls a focusing operation for adjusting the position of the focus lens along the optical axis in the optical system, in accordance with an evaluation value associated with the focusing state. If there is an instruction to set the subject distance nearer or farther away to bring the subject into focus (S2, S3), the control unit shifts the start position where the focus lens is located when starting the focusing operation in a direction along the optical axis in accordance with the instruction (S6, S8). The control unit starts the focusing operation from the shifted start position (S10).
