Abstract:
An imaging element comprising: a photoelectric conversion unit that photoelectrically converts incident light and generates a charge; a comparison unit that compares a signal from the charge generated by the photoelectric conversion unit, to a reference signal; and an AD conversion unit having a first storage unit that stores a first signal on the basis of a signal output from the comparison unit and is provided in a first circuit layer and a second storage unit that stores a second signal on the basis of a signal output from the comparison unit and is provided in a second circuit layer laminated upon the first circuit layer.
