Abstract:
The objective of the invention is to mitigate the occurrence of cross-talks in an imaging element of the back-illuminated type. This imaging element is equipped with: a polarization section; and a pixel provided with a photoelectric conversion section, a pixel circuit, and a wiring layer. The photoelectric conversion section is formed on a semiconductor substrate and performs photoelectric conversion on the basis of incoming light. The pixel circuit generates an image signal corresponding to a charge generated by the photoelectric conversion. The wiring layer is disposed on a side of the semiconductor substrate that is different from the side wherefrom the incoming light enters, and transmits either the image signal or a signal impressed on the pixel circuit. The polarization section is disposed between the semiconductor substrate and the wiring layer and causes to be transmitted, out of the incoming light transmitted through the photoelectric conversion section, light in a specific polarization orientation.
