Abstract:
The present invention prevents a decrease in a saturated charge amount of a photoelectric conversion portion when generating a phase difference signal. A pixel is provided with a plurality of photoelectric conversion portions which are formed on a semiconductor substrate, and which generate charges by performing photoelectric conversion of incident light from a subject. An in-pixel separating portion is disposed in the pixel to separate the plurality of photoelectric conversion portions. An overflow path is disposed in the in-pixel separating portion to transfer overflowing charges between the plurality of photoelectric conversion portions. An overflow gate is disposed in the pixel to adjust a potential of the overflow path. A pixel separating portion is disposed at a boundary of the pixel. A charge holding portion holds the generated charges. A charge transfer portion is disposed in each of the plurality of photoelectric conversion portions to transfer the generated charges to the charge holding portion to be held. An image signal generating portion generates an image signal on the basis of the generated charges.
