An imaging optical device which can be easily assembled even if the size and thickness thereof are reduced.  An imaging optical device (1) comprises: a lens drive device (2) having mounted thereto a lens, an imaging element, and a drive mechanism for driving the lens; a support body (5) for supporting the lens drive device (2); a sensor (4) for detecting a change in the tilt of the lens drive device (2); and a shake correction mechanism for correcting a shake by rocking the lens drive device (2) on the basis of the result of the detection by the sensor (4).  The shake correction mechanism is provided with a rocking drive mechanism (6) for rocking the lens drive device (2).  The rocking drive mechanism (6) is provided with a drive magnet (21) and a drive coil (23) which are arranged so as to face each other.  The drive magnet (21) rocks together with the lens drive device (2), and the drive coil (23) is fixed to the support body (5).  A coil mounting member (16) to which the drive coil (23) is mounted consists of a non-magnetic material.
