Abstract:
An imaging optical system with a "positive-negative-positive-positive-positive" five-group zoom structure having high optical performance despite its compactness. The imaging optical system has, in order from the object side, a first lens group having positive optical power, fixed in magnification varying operation, and including a reflection member for bending the optical axis at a right angle; a second lens group having negative optical power and movable in the optical axis direction; a third lens group having positive optical power; a fourth lens group having positive optical power and movable in the optical axis direction; and a fifth lens group having positive optical power and movable in the optical axis direction. The relationship between the focal length of the imaging device, the distance on the optical axis, and the focusing distance of the fifth lens group is determined so that the ratio of the amounts of variation in magnification between the fourth lens group and the fifth lens group is optimized.
