This imaging system is provided with: an imaging element having an imaging unit for imaging a subject and outputting a video signal, an output unit capable of amplifying and outputting the video signal for each field, and a communication unit for acquiring a set gain to be set as a gain of the output unit through communication with the outside; an imaging control unit for transmitting the set gain for each field to the imaging element through communication with the communication unit; a detection unit for detecting whether the video signal was amplified by the set gain in the output unit; an amplification circuit for amplifying the video signal from the imaging element if the detection result by the detection unit finds that the video signal was not amplified by the set gain in the output unit; and a correction gain acquisition unit for determining a correction gain to be set for the amplification circuit.
