Abstract:
Provided is an impact absorbing body that is able to control buckling behavior and suppress fluctuations in performance. The present invention provides an impact absorbing body composed of a hollow blow molded body. The blow molded body is provided with a front surface wall and a rear surface wall that face one another with space therebetween in the front-rear direction, and a lateral wall connecting the front surface wall and the rear surface wall to each other. The front surface wall is provided with a cylindrical front surface–side recessed rib formed by recessing the front surface wall. The rear surface wall is provided with a cylindrical rear surface–side recessed rib formed by recessing the rear surface wall. The front surface–side recessed rib and the rear surface–side recessed rib are welded to each other at tip ends thereof. At least one of the front surface–side recessed rib and the rear surface–side recessed rib has formed therein a buckling guiding portion that serves as a buckling start point for absorbing an impact. The at least one of the front surface–side recessed rib and the rear surface–side recessed rib is configured to buckle, when a load is applied in the axial direction of the front surface–side recessed rib and the rear surface–side recessed rib, in such a way that, due to the buckling guiding portion, at least one of the center of gravity of the opening surrounded by the opening edge of the front surface–side recessed rib and the center of gravity of the opening surrounded by the opening edge of the rear surface–side recessed rib moves in a direction that crosses the axial direction.
