Abstract:
A part of a surface of a movable body serving as an impact surface is formed of a bag in which pressurized gas is enclosed. When a colliding object collides with the bag-shaped impact absorber, the volume of the impact absorber is reduced. At this time, the gas of which internal pressure is increased is released into the air while fluid resistance acts during outflow of the gas by opening gas valves formed at a side of the absorber separated from the impact surface. Alternatively, the gas is rapidly sent into connected air bags through gas valves to expand the air bags inside the movable body, on the outer surface of a windshield, and on a hood so that impact on passengers or on objects such as persons who run into the movable body is lessened at the same time as the impact is absorbed outside the movable body. The bag can be mounted on a stationary body in reverse so that the impact of collision of the movable body is lessened.
