Description:
DESCRIPTION

AN IMPACT PREVENTING CUSHION

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an impact preventing cushion which can be applied in opening-closing mechanism and especially in engine hoods, which is developed for protecting the door or the user against hitting-crashing risks.

Background of the Invention

Today, hitting cushions, stoppers that will hold the hood in ideal position are added in order that situations like hitting, crashing, friction and breaking between components close to each other are not experienced during closing opening- closing mechanisms, especially the vehicle engine hoods. A rigid support point is needed for fixing the stopper and cushions used for opening-closing mechanism and for them being operable. Extra hole, pin or groove is included into the system so that the stopper and cushion are fixed to the support point.

In the current system, any kind of flat surface and hole is required for fixing the impact absorbing cushions. In addition to this, today spring, wreathed, inserted and adhesive impact preventing cushions are used and all of them have holes. In the current technique, since the cushion is placed on an inner ring (that does not have any recess or protrusion), the resistance provided by this ring for the cushion to maintain its position consists of the friction force between them.

European Patent Document no EP 1103689, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a structure stopping the vehicle hood. The invention discloses a stud having a contact head placed with the help of a lug into the opening made on the support plate and a cover enclosing these. In the said stopping structure, there is a tubular lug between the connecting member and the cushion and an inner ring enclosing the said member. The cushion is placed on the said ring, and for this reason the resistance of the cushion against displacement is low.

Summary of the Invention

The objective of the present invention is to provide an impact preventing cushion which is developed for preventing situations such as hitting, friction and breaking between the components close to each other during closing in opening-closing mechanisms, especially in vehicle engine hoods and preventing the damages that can occur in the hood components and the user after crash, and which can be used without requiring additions such as groove and pin for mounting. A further objective of the present invention is to provide an impact preventing cushion which can be mounted on the surfaces to be mounted without requiring any flat surface and hole.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide an impact preventing cushion which can be mounted later.

Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide an impact preventing cushion which can be attached to any kind of connecting member such as bolt, screw located on the opening-closing mechanisms.

Detailed Description of the Invention

"An impact preventing cushion" developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:

Figure 1 is the view of the impact preventing cushion.

Figure 2 is the view of the mounting process of the impact preventing cushion. Figure 3 is the view of the impact preventing cushion on the engine hood. Figure 4 is the cross sectional view of the impact preventing cushion on the connecting member. The components given in the figures are assigned reference numbers as follows:

1. Impact preventing cushion

2. Body

3. Entry opening

4. Hole

K: Hood

The inventive impact preventing cushion (1), which is developed for preventing situations such as hitting, friction and breaking between the components close to each other during closing especially in vehicle engine hoods (K) and thus preventing the damages that can occur in the hood components and the user after crash, essentially comprises

- At least one body (2) which absorbs the possible impacts with its material structure by being mounted on the connecting members located on the opening-closing mechanisms,

- At least one entry opening (3) which is located on the lower surface of the body (2) and which is used for attaching to any connecting member on the surface to be mounted,

- At least one hole (4) which prevents the opening in the connecting member and cushion to reduce during mounting and the mounting process getting difficult due to reduced volume.

The inventive impact preventing cushion (1) relates to mounting later without needing a flat surface and a hole on the surface to which it will be mounted in opening-closing mechanisms. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the impact preventing cushion (1) mounted on the vehicle hood (K) absorbs the impact applied for closing the hood (K), prevents the sudden movement and vibration that can occur as a result of the impact from being transferred to the other vehicle components (Figure 3).

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the lower surface of the impact preventing cushion (1), being different from the previous art, is positioned on a bushing located on a bolt, and this situation provides advantage for absorbing sudden movement and vibrations that will come on the cushion.

The inventive impact preventing cushion (1) is connected by fitting into the connected member present on the surface to which it will be mounted through the entry opening (3) with the help of pushing and rotating movement of the user. The inventive impact preventing cushion (1) is mounted vertical to the surface of the hood (K) in order to absorb impact force that can occur during closing the engine hood (K). In a preferred embodiment of the invention, due to the form of the entry opening (3) located on the body (2), being different from the previous technique, a rotational movement should be applied on the lower and upper surface of the cushion (1) in additional to a vertical force, and this enables the position of the cushion to be more solid. Rotary movement can be performed in both directions during mounting.

Regarding to the form of the entry opening (3) located on the body (2) present in the inventive impact preventing cushion (1), the position of the cushion is supported with the strength provided by the form in addition to the friction. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, with the hole (4) extending from the entry opening (3) towards the head of the impact preventing cushion (1), an operation which is performed more comfortably and in shorter time during mounting the impact preventing cushion (1) to the connecting member is provided (Figure 1). The hole (4) prevents the decrease in the opening present in the connecting member and the cushion and the mounting process from getting difficult due to decreasing volume. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the body (2) is manufactured from hygienic, flexible and impact preventing rubber material. The rubber material which is used is resistant to wearing and suitable for operating at high and low temperatures values in addition to the said features.

It is possible to develop a wide variety of embodiments of the inventive impact preventing cushion (1). The invention cannot be limited to the examples described herein; it is essentially as defined in the claims.
