Abstract:
Disclosed is an impact-resistant member which is lightweight, high strength, and has excellent absorption of impact energy.
The impact-resistant member is composed of magnesium alloy containing 7.3 mass%-12 mass% inclusive of Al. A test plate piece in a rectangle shape is created from the impact-resistant member, an iron ball (30) having a mass of 225 g is freely dropped toward the center of the test plate piece in a state in which both ends of the test plate piece are held by support bases (21, 22), the distance from the point at which the iron ball (30) is dropped to the test plate piece is set to the drop height, and when a drop height (H) at which no dent is formed on the test plate piece by the iron ball (30) is measured, the impact-resistant member has the drop height (H) of 340 mm or higher. In this way, the impact-resistant member is great in the drop height at which no dent is formed, and is not dented or not susceptible to being dented even in the case of being subjected to impact, thus providing excellent impact resistance.
