Abstract:

A method of inspecting structures is disclosed wherein a pressure sensor or an acceleration sensor is mounted on a hammer that imparts non-destructive impact to a material that is to be measured, and a signal produced by striking the material with the hammer is used to indicate the period of time of contact of the hammer with the material or a processed signal. There are also disclosed means for processing the signals for said time measurement or discrimination, means for removing impact drive force by using a signal from the sensor as soon as the hammer comes in contact with the material for said measurement.
