Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved companding transform method for reducing peak-to-average ratio (PAPR) of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) underwater acoustic communication system, and aims at avoiding influence on the orthogonality between sub-carriers of an OFDM system due to clipping distortion caused by operation of an underwater acoustic power amplifier in a non-linear region due to excessive signal peak power, and thus avoiding further influence on the bit error rate of the whole communication system. The present invention belongs to the field of underwater acoustic communications, and relates to a companding transform method for reducing PAPR of an OFDM underwater acoustic communication system. The present invention improves the companding transform method at a transmitting end and a receiving end respectively, reducing the influence of said method on system bit-error rate performance; and the simulation result of an underwater environment indicates that when the signal-to-noise ratio is 20 dB, the bit error rate of the underwater acoustic system using the improved companding transform method is lower than the traditional companding transform method by a magnitude of 10 -1, proving that said improved method is more applicable to the field of underwater sound acoustics in a complex channel environment.
