Title:
IMPROVED FIXING OF WALL MOUNTED FIXING PANEL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/114339
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An improved mounting device for heating panels is mounted with an air gap between the heating panel and a wall wherein a heat barrier film or a pad is fixed onto the wall behind the panel, which causes a reduction of the temperature measured on the wall at the back of the panel such that the efficiency of the heating panel to heat-up the room is enhanced.

I CLAIM:

1. An improved mounting device for heating panels mounted with an air gap between the heating panel and a wall wherein a heat barrier film or a pad is fixed onto the wall behind the panel, which causes a reduction of the temperature measured on the wall at the back of the panel such that efficiency of the heating panel to heat-up the room is enhanced.

2. An improved mounting device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the heat barrier is made of heat radiating material preferably with insulating material at the back of the radiating material.

3. An improved mounting device as claimed in claim lor 2, , wherein the heat barrier is mounted on or attached to the surface or wall portion behind the heating panel.

4. An improved mounting device as claimed in claims 1 to 3, wherein the dimension of the heat barrier correspond to the dimensions of the heating panel.

5. An improved mounting device for heating panels mounted with an air gap between the heating panel and a wall as substantially described and illustrated herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Description:
FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention relates to an improved panel heater mounting to increase heating efficiency of the panel heaters, which are installed with a gap from the surfaces such as a roof or a wall for heating-up of rooms for domestic, commercial or industrial purposes.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

Heating panels are generally mounted with spacers or otherwise to maintain clearance between the wall and the panel. The trapped air between the wall and panel gets heated rather quickly due to small volume of trapped air. Hot air travels upward to be replaced by cold air from below to form convectional currents. Convectional currents amount to a major portion of the heat transfer although radiation also transfers heat.

One of the disadvantages of the prior art systems is that the wall at the back of the panel also gets heated to high temperature which is not the intended purpose of the panel. The heat thus taken up by the wall travels all through the wall material and also to the rear side of the wall. This phenomenon delays the heating up of room air after the heater is switched on. One method used to create the gap is to use spacers for mounting the panel on the wall.

OBJECTS OF INVENTION

It is therefore an object of the invention to propose an improved panel heater mounting device which achieves a faster heating of rooms.

Another object of the invention is to propose an improved panel heater mounting device which enhances the utilization of heating power.

A further object of the invention is to propose an improved panel heater mounting device which prevents transfer of heat to the wall surface.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

At the back of the panel a heat transfer restraining pad forming heat barrier is either pasted or fixed directly onto the wall. This can be in the form of a sheet or a board.

Such a pad can be made of an insulating material or a radiant material or a combination of both. This arrangement prevents heat from transfer on to wall surface and allow an increase of the temperature of convection air going up from the heater, thereby making the heating of the room faster and enhancing the effectiveness of heating power utilization.

BRIEF DISCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS

Figure-1- shows a mounting device of prior art with a heating panel.

Figure-2- shows a panel mounting device with heat barrier on a wall behind the . heating panel according to the invention .

Figure-3- shows an isometric view of the heat barrier including the panel according to the invention.

Figure-4- shows a heat barrier fixed behind the wall and the panel according to the invention.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Figure-1 shows a prior art heating panel (2) fixed on a wall (1) using a plurality of mounting legs with spacers (3), and having a gap between the panel (2) and the wall (1). However, these prior art heating panels (2) develop hot surfaces on either side, and further do not have any radiating means. As shown in figure-2, a heat barrier film (4) is fixed on to the wall (1) at the back of the panel (2), the panel (2) being mounted on to a surface such as a wall (1). As shown in figures 3 and 4, the heat barrier film or pad (4) contains a radiant film with or without a backing of insulating material. An insulation backup is preferred to further enhance the efficiency of the heating panel (2). The heat barrier film (4) reflects the heat transferred to the wall (1) by radiation and promotes further heat transfer to the air between the heating panel (2) and the heat barrier film (4). This has the effect of increasing the temperature of a room faster and enhancing the effectiveness of the heater (2). This arrangement also raises temperature of the room more than when the heat barrier film (4) is not used.

Measured temperature of the wall surface (1), which locates behind the heat barrier (4) is found to be much lower than the temperature of the wall (1) without the heat barrier film or foil. This data is given in experimental data.

The heating panels (2) can be of several types such as a panel with embedded heating coils, or an oil filled electrical heater, or a hot water, or a hot oil circulating heater. The heat barrier film (4) will enhance efficiency of any of those several types of heaters (2).
