Description:
Improved frame for upholstered sofa or chair.

The present invention relates to an improved frame for upholstered sofa or chair.

In particular, the present invention is preferably and advantageously used inside an upholstered/padded sofa or arm chair with reclining parts or having movable parts such as, for example, head restraints or moving footrests by means of lever movement mechanisms or arms extending from a closed position to an open extended position and by means of a special motorization.

Currently, in known structures for sofas or armchairs reclinable with moving parts by electric motorization, the positioning and fixing of all the various electrical cables for wiring and connection between the various moving parts of the upholstered sofa or armchair is a source of notable technical and aesthetic problems.

Indeed, the various wiring cables must necessarily be fixed, very often ineffective and very precarious, to the padding of the sofa or chair, in particular below the cushion or in the back of the sofa, with the consequent possible serious risk of damage to the cable during the normal use of the sofa or chair by the user that may compromise the correct operation, as well as the safety of the user.

Moreover, such positioning and fixing may seriously compromise the aesthetic configuration of the sofa or armchair.

The object of the present invention is to completely eliminate the serious problems and disadvantages of the prior art cited above.

The structural and functional characteristics of the present invention and its advantages with respect to the prior art will become even clearer and clearer from the claims below, and in particular from an examination of the detailed description that follows, made with reference to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate schematically some preferred but not limiting embodiments of an improved frame for upholstered sofa or chair wherein:

- Figure 1 shows in a side view a first preferred embodiment of the improved frame for upholstered sofa or chair according to the present invention;

- Figure 2 is a front view of the frame of Figure 1 ; - Figure 3 is a top plan view of the frame of Figure 1 ;

- Figure 4 shows a perspective view of the frame of Figure 1 ;

- Figure 5 shows a front view of a sofa provided with the frame in Figure 1 ;

- Figure 6 shows a front view of a second preferred embodiment of the improved frame for upholstered sofa or chair according to the present invention;

- Figure 7 is a side view of the frame of Figure 6;

- Figure 8 shows a perspective view of the frame of Figure 6;

- Figure 9 is a plan view from above of the frame of Figure 6; is

- Figure 10 shows a side view of a sofa mounted on the frame of Figure 6.

With reference to the attached figures 1 to 5, with ST is globally indicated an improved support structure frame for a reclining movable furniture Ml (sofa or armchair) or having movable parts such as, for example, a headrest or footrest movable by means of a movement mechanism a parts extending from a closed position to an extended open position and by means of a motorization defined by a suitable known actuator, preferably electrically actuated.

For example, the said actuator can advantageously be a gas cylinder piston, or hydraulic cylinder piston, or preloaded spring, or any moving device operating for storing kinetic energy.

The structure frame ST comprises a frame T for fixing and supporting of means for moving the arms or levers of the articulated quadrilateral (not shown) known type, said frame T is modularly shaped and substantially formed by two lateral plate elements P1 and P2 and fixed to the opposite sides of a crossbar element BT fixed centrally to the two said elements P1 and P2.

Each of the plate elements P1 , P2 is mounted on a relative foot K1 , K2 resting on the ground

(Figure 5).

The lateral plate elements P1 and P2 and / or the bar BT are adapted to support integrated, well hidden from view, electrical cables for wiring and connection between the aforementioned articulated quadrilateral handling means and the abovecited motorization.

It should also be noted that the cross-bar element BT and / or the plate elements P1 , P2 of the frame T of the frame structure ST are able to support, in an advantageous and opportune position, the various couplings, indicated globally by Zi on Figures from 1 to 5, for the electrical connection of the aforementioned wiring cables in such a way that during assembly of the reclining furniture IM the operation of connection and wiring of the wire cables results in extremely quick and simple execution.

On plate elements P1 and P2 there are also provided fast coupling and release means to allow the hooking of covers of the frame T and which form part of the reclining furniture IM.

According to the alternative embodiment shown on Figures 6 to 10, the frame T is devoid of the aforesaid support feet K1 and K2, and is instead mounted on a stem F (case) substantially to support the seats S of the reclining furniture IM so as to define a base B.

The stem F is provided with square or rectangular shape and is substantially defined by two lateral plate elements P1 ', P2' mounted, each, at the opposite ends of two cross-bar elements BT1 and BT2.

Preferably but not limited to, said stem F is made of metal material or equivalent robust material. The lateral plate elements P1 ', P2' of the stem F and / or the two transversal bar elements BT1 and BT2 of the same stem F have a substantially box-like profile (for example, with a square, U- shaped cross-section) in such a way that within said box-like profile, the aforementioned connection and wiring cables can be advantageously introduced, fixed and therefore hidden from view.

On the aforementioned lateral plate elements P1 'and P2', there are also provided fast coupling and release means to allow the attachment of covers of the frame T and which form part of the reclining furniture IM.

It should also be noted that one or both of the elements BT1 , BT2 with transverse bars and / or the lateral plates P1 'and P2' of the frame T of the structure ST are able to support, in an advantageous and opportune position, the various connections, indicated globally with Zi in Figures 7,8 and 9, for the electrical connection of the aforementioned wiring cables in such a way that, during the assembly of the reclining furniture IM, the operation of connection and wiring of the said wiring cables results of extremely quick and simple execution.

Finally, the modular conformation allows the composition at will of the reclining upholstered furniture IM.
