Claims:
CLAIMS

1 . An improved eyeglasses (1 ) comprising:

- a base frame forming two lens rims (2), a bridge (3) connecting said rims (2) and two endpieces (4), all having an outwardly-facing outer surface (6) and an inner surface (7) facing the face of a wearer;

a pair of support temples (5) jointed to the endpieces (4);

characterized in that at least said outer surface (6) of said lens rims (2) and said connecting bridge (8) has a coating (8) made of a stone material.

2. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said outer surface (6) of said endpieces (4) and temples (5) has a coating (8) made of a stone material.

3. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said coating comprises a sheet (8) of stone material.

4. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein said sheet (8) has a thickness ranging from 0.4 to 4 millimeters.

5. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein said coating (8) and said outer surface (6) are stably coupled together by coupling means.

6. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein said coating (8) made of stone material is selected from marbles, granites, onyxes, semiprecious stones.

7. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in claim 1 , wherein also said inner surface (7) is partially or entirely coated with a coating (8) made of a stone material.

8. An improved eyeglasses as claimed in claim 1 or 7, wherein said coating (8) made of stone material of the outer surface (6) of said lens rims (2) and the connecting bridge (3) is equal to or different from said coating made of stone material (8) of the inner surface (7).

Description:
IMPROVED GLASSES

Field of the Invention

This invention relates to improved eyeglasses.

Background art

Eyeglasses with various shapes and colors are known.

Particularly, prior art eyeglasses have been made with increasingly refined materials and colors, because eyeglasses have become an important fashion accessory and their shape and color is selected according to both the somatic traits of each individual and fashion dictates.

In this context, aesthetic requirements shall be compatible with the practical need of supporting corrective or photoprotecive lenses, and allowing easy and accurate mounting of lenses, especially considering field of view correction requirements.

Typically, prior art eyeglasses may be made from plastic or metal materials, the latter possibly being highly sophisticated, such as titanium, for optimized weight reduction and comfort.

Eyeglasses are also available in virtually countless colors, as dictated by fashion and preferences of wearers.

In this respect, eyeglass manufactures have been increasingly looking for novelties to stimulate purchase by users, which might afford them a marketing edge over competitors.

Disclosure of the invention

One object of the present Utility Model is to improve the state of the art.

Another object of the invention is to provide improved eyeglasses that have undoubted appeal to customers.

A further object of the invention is to provide aesthetically novel improved eyeglasses whose structure can ensure and maintain proper lens positioning.

Yet another object of the invention is to provide improved eyeglasses that may be customized according to the preferences of each wearer.

In one aspect the invention relates to improved eyeglasses as defined by the features of claim 1 .

The invention achieves the following advantages:

- providing improved eyeglasses that may be customized according to the preferences of each wearer;

- providing improved eyeglasses that have a high commercial appeal;

- providing improved eyeglasses that have a strong and appropriately sized structure, for properly positioning lenses and holding them in position, even when they are subjected to external stresses or accidentally dropped.

Brief Description of the Drawings

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will be more apparent from the detailed description of a preferred, non-exclusive embodiment of improved eyeglasses, which is shown as non-limiting example in the annexed drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a schematic side view of improved eyeglasses of the invention, when assembling a stone coating;

FIG. 2 is a detailed view of the endpieces of the improved eyeglasses of Figure 1 ;

FIG. 3 is a view of the inner surface of the improved eyeglasses of Figure 1 , without the support temples;

FIG. 4 is a view of the outer surface of the improved eyeglasses of

Figure 1 , without the support temples.

Detailed description of a preferred embodiment Referring to the above figures, numeral 1 designates improved eyeglasses typically comprising two lens rims 2 that may have any shape whatever, a bridge 3 for connecting the lens rims 2, hereinafter shortly referred to as rims 2, and two endpieces 4 located in the proximity of the side ends of the two lens rims 2 having the ends of two temples (or sidepieces) 5 hinged thereto

All the above elements have an outer surface and an inner surface opposite thereto, the term "outer surface" designating the outwardly facing surface of the improved eyeglasses and the term "inner surface" designating the surface facing toward the face of the wearer, as he/she wears the improved eyeglasses.

More in detail, numeral 6 designates the front outer surface of the rims 2 and the connecting bridge 3, whereas numeral 7 designates the oppositely facing inner surface.

According to the present invention, at least the outer surface 6 of the rims, the bridge 3 and the endpieces 4 has a coating made of stone material attached thereto, which is made of a very thin sheet 8, whose thickness ranges from 0.4 to 4 millimeters.

The stone material may be selected from a multiplicity of stone materials including those having high aesthetic appeal and mechanical strength, such as marbles, granites, onyxes, and stones known as semiprecious stones.

In other words, the improved eyeglasses 1 are composed of a prior art bearing frame, made from typical materials for this product, which has the stone coating 8 applied thereto to impart an aesthetically valuable and novel aspect, as well as increased mechanical strength against stresses and impacts.

The skilled person will understand that, when required by particular needs, also the inner surfaces of the rims 2, the bridge 3 and the endpieces 4, as well as the temples 5 may have a stone coating, that may be the same as the one on the outer surface or different therefrom, to obtain a particular color contrast effect.

The improved eyeglasses are formed by coupling the coating 8 to the parts to be coated and the application technique will typically depend on the material that forms the base frame.

For example, the coating 8 may be applied using adhesive materials or co-molded with the frame of the improved eyeglasses 1 during fabrication thereof.

The above disclosed invention was found to fulfill the intended objects. The invention so conceived is susceptible to changes and variants within the inventive concept.

Also, all the details may be replaced by other technical equivalent elements.

In its practical implementation, any material, shape and size may be used as needed, without departure from the scope as defined by the following claims.
