Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the crystallization of (2R)-2-[(3S,4S)-3-[(1R)-1-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl- oxy)ethyl]-2-oxoazetidin-4-yl]propionic acid. The method is characterized in that the crystallization of the compound is achieved by mixing a solution having the compound dissolved therein with a substituted aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent. The method enables to produce a crystal of the compound at high purity and in a high yield, while keeping the content of a 2S isomer at a low level.
