Abstract:
A method for filtering molten aluminum and aluminum alloys. The method includes providing a reticulated foam wherein oxygen is introduced to an interior of the reticulated foam. Molten aluminum or aluminum alloy is passed through said reticulated foam wherein oxygen is maintained at a partial pressure of at least 2.51 X 10-35 atm during filtration.
