C L A I M S

1 . An improved rod-like inverted T profile, characterised by comprising at least one deep-drawing (8) on the junction line between the central rib (2) and the flanges (6). 2. A profile as claimed in claim 1 , characterised by comprising a deep- drawing along the entire junction line.

3. A profile as claimed in claim 1 , characterised by comprising a plurality of equidistant deep-drawings.

4. A profile as claimed in claim 1 , characterised in that the deep-drawings are formed during the profile forming operation.

Description:

IMPROVED ROD-LIKE INVERTED T PROFILE

The present invention relates to an improved rod-like inverted T profile.

Structural elements for false ceilings are known consisting of profiles of inverted T cross-section provided at their ends with hooks formed directly on the central rib of the T profile or by separately produced inserts applied to each profile section during its construction.

Said profiles are also provided in their rib with notches in which the hook element of a profile perpendicular thereto is engaged, to form a lattice structure which is generally suspended from the ceiling, usually by steel cables or ties, to enable its horizontal flanges to functionally support panels or slats or whatever else is required to form the false ceiling.

The T profile generally presents on its lower flange an aluminium cover which not only gives a pleasant external appearance to the exposed part when the structure is formed, but also gives it a certain torsional rigidity.

This known profile presents however certain drawbacks, and in particular:

- the horizontal flanges can bend when these support the panel,

- the material for covering with the aluminium cover represents a cost. These drawbacks are eliminated according to the invention by an improved rod-like inverted T profile as described in claim 1 .

The present invention is further described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an improved profile according to the invention, and

Figure 2 shows it in cross-section.

As can be seen from the figures, the profile of the invention has a substantially inverted T cross-section and presents a central rib 2, consisting of two facing metal bands which upperly form a tubular reinforcement element 4 and lowerly extend into two flanges 6 perpendicular to its plane. In the joining region between the lower end of the rib 2 and the inner end of the flanges 6 a plurality of deep-drawings are provided, these being formed during the product profiling operation.

These deep-drawings 8 provide the profile with increased torsional rigidity which prevents bending of the flanges when the panels and slats are supported on it.

The profile rib comprises a slot 10 for inserting traditional hook elements 12 provided at the ends of the profile.

From the aforegoing it is apparent that the profile of the invention presents the advantage of greater torsional rigidity and also enables the cover previously used as the reinforcement element to be eliminated.
