Description:

IMPROVEMENT IN CONTROL BUTTON USED IN COOKERS

Technical Field

The present invention relates to control buttons used in electricity- and gas-based cookers.

The present invention more particularly relates to a safe, cost-efficient, and highly- endurable control button used in electricity- and gas-based cookers, said control button being assembled easily, providing the necessary gas or electricity for burning the burner or cooker, and diminishing or increasing the gas- or electricity- flow amount to adjust the flame intensity of the burner or cooker, if it becomes necessary to do so.

Background of Invention

Nowadays in cookers, push-button type control buttons are being used. The currently-available push-button type control buttons furnished with safety-catch control mechanisms are widely employed in any kind of electrified cookers. These buttons are generally provided in slots in some embodiments for aesthetic reasons. During use or operation, they are raised by a push-down touch so that the cooker control is ensured by rotating such button.

The locking mechanism in conventional type push-buttons is ensured by means of a metal piece engaging to a slot, or by means of a leaf, or blade, coupled to a stem, or body, in other embodiments. While such metal piece is displaced right- or leftward within a slot, a displaceable body with a guide path is driven horizontally by means of a spring. In this manner, said metal piece is settled into the slot so as to lock the mechanism. The locking intensity depends on the strength of spring. Particularly in embodiments with inadequate heat insulation for lowering the manufacturing costs, said metal piece can become overheated and embedded to the slot or may become expanded. This unwanted circumstance may cause such buttons, which actually must be movable or rotatable by origin, to loose their functions with becoming firm and locked. As for the case of body-coupled leaf

structures, there is the risk that they become broken while being rotated for controlling the cooker, or the risk that they become disengaged from their slot.

In current embodiments, additionally, the lid is fixed to the moving body, and since the moving section, the slot and lid displace on the same axis, and the button is stationary on the cook or the button's axis, such pieces may be deflected from their axes during assembly. Such a circumstance may lead both to difficulties in assembly and to aesthetically unpleasant circumstances.

Brief Description of Invention

The objective of the present invention is to eradicate the drawbacks encountered in the relevant background art, by developing a safe, cost-efficient, and highly- endurable control button for electricity- and gas-based cookers; said control buttons being assembled easily, providing the necessary gas or electricity to burn the cooker or burner, and diminishing or increasing the gas- or electricity-flow amount to adjust the flame intensity of the cooker or burner when it becomes necessary to do so.

In order to achieve said objective, a control button is developed comprising a body, an eccentric element placed interior of said body, a slot provided on said eccentric element, a locking tongue displacing together with said slot, a displacing element displaceable in said slot, a guiding element formed on said displacing element, a spring in connection with said displacing element, a fixation piece formed to prevent said displacing element from springing out from said slot, and a safety piece.

Detailed Description of Invention

The subject control button (1 ) illustrated in Figure 1 in a perspective manner is used in electricity- or gas-based cookers.

The subject control button consists in general of a body (2), an eccentric element (7) placed in the interior of said body (2), a slot (4) positioned on said eccentric element (7), a displacing element (10) displaceable in said slot (4), and of a spring (8).

The operation of the locking mechanism of the control button (1 ) is achieved once a locking tongue (6) moving together with said slot (4) connects to a guiding element (9) provided on said displacing element (10). Since said locking tongue (6) is on the displacing element (10) and since the cock or switch entrance is connected to the displacing element (10), when the control button (1 ) is rotated,

-A-

the locking tongue (6) will be displaced together with the displacing element (10). Furthermore, since the locking tongue (6) and slot (4) share the same plane, they are independent of the body's (2) displacement. Additionally, in order to avoid said displacing element (10) from springing out from the slot (4) against the pushing force of said spring (8), a fixation piece (3) and a second safety piece (5) are formed.

One of the significant problems encountered in assembling the control button (1 ) is that the axes of the cock or switch and the button's coupling axis may deflect in the assembly of control buttons at electricity- and gas-based cookers. In order to eliminate such axis-deflections and to avoid axis adjustment during assembly, an clover-shaped eccentric element (7) that provides eccentric displacement is placed in the interior of the body (2) of the subject control button (1 ). Said slot (4) and said displacing element (10) are fastened to the eccentric element shown in Figure 2. These parts provides an eccentric placement that avoids axis deflections of around 3 to 4 mm during the rotational displacement of the eccentric element (7).

In addition, an assembly piece (11 ) is used on the tip of displacing element (10) in order to more properly carry out the connection of said control button (1 ) with the cock. Said assembly piece (11 ) facilitates the mutual assembly and disassembly of the cock and the displacing element (10). Preferably a laminated spring is used as the assembly piece (11 ) shown in Figure 4.

The present invention is not to be restricted with the representative embodiments given in this section. Any embodiments to be realized by persons skilled in the art according to the basic principles and to the aforesaid alternative embodiments, which all are under the protection scope as set forth in the Claims, shall be an infringement of the present invention.
