CLAIMS
1. A book or booklet incorporating a front cover, a back cover and, between the front and back covers, a plurality of removable pages, each said removable page being connected to the remainder of the book or booklet in such a manner as to allow the removable page to be readily detached from the remainder of the book and wherein at least some of said removable pages carry a scent or smell which can be transferred to an article, such a fabric article, by rubbing the detached page over the article.
2. A book or booklet according to Claim 1 wherein at least some of said removable pages carry scentfilled microcapsules.
3. A book or booklet according to Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein at least some of said pages carry printing.
4. A book or booklet according to Claim 3 wherein at least some of said pages carry printing on both sides.
5. A book or booklet according to any preceding claim wherein reusable sealing means is provided whereby the book or booklet may be held in a closed condition with said pages between the front and back covers.
6. A book or booklet according to Claim 5 wherein the reusable sealing means is selfsealing to secure the front cover to the back cover, with the removable pages therebetween, as a result of closing the book.
7. A book or booklet substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
Description:
"Improvements in or relating to books or booklets" THIS INVENTION relates to books or booklets and it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved book or booklet.

According to the present invention there is provided a book or booklet incorporating a front cover, a back cover and, between the front and back covers, a plurality of removable pages, each said removable page being connected to the remainder of the book or booklet in such a manner as to allow the removable page to be readily detached from the remainder of the book and wherein at least some of said removable pages carry a scent or smell which can be transferred to an article, such a fabric article, by rubbing the detached page over the article.

An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a book or booklet according to the invention from one side ; Figure 2 is a corresponding perspective view from the other side; and Figure 3 shows the book or booklet of Figures 1 and 2 in a closed and sealed condition.

Referring to Figure 1, a slim book or booklet according to the invention has front and back outer covers A and B, respectively, e. g. formed by a single rectangular piece of card folded to provide a spine C as shown in Figure 2.

Between the covers A and B and forming the pages of the book is block D of superimposed paper, card or even plastics pages. The block D may, as shown, be secured to the inner side of the cover B. The block D of pages may initially be covered or enclosed in a protective covering, e. g. of plastics film.

The pages in the block D may each bear a different greeting, verse or other text and each may be scent-impregnated or may be coated with a layer of scent-filled micro-capsules in a manner known per se in relation to"scratch and sniff'products. At least some of the pages may be printed with text and/or other matter on one or both sides of the respective pages. The arrangement is such that each page in the block D can be readily detached from the block, for example by tearing along a line of perforation adjacent a portion thereof secured to the remainder of the block, or by having each page attached to the remainder of the block along an edge by a strip of permanently tacky adhesive so that the page can be simply peeled from the block, or by tearing out a strip between part of the page secured to the block and the remainder of the page.

The scent incorporated in each page may be of the kind adapted to induce relaxation and a sense of well-being and may be supplied under the name"Bed Balm", and/or may be a scent associated with a loved one. Thus a recipient of the booklet may, over a series of nights, peel or tear off a respective page from the block D and then rub it on the sheets or pillows of his or her bed so as to release the scent and apply it to the sheets or pillows. If desired, each sheet or page may carry a different scent, e. g. related to the greeting, verse or text on the page. However, the scent may be of some other kind, e. g. of a foodstuff such as cheese, or a material such as wood or leather, appropriate to the message or messages on the page concerned or to the intended recipient, and not necessarily intended to be applied to bed linen or other fabric.

In a variant, the pages in the block D may be replaced by, or each may form or carry, a sachet for a scent, e. g. in liquid form or in the form of a scented talcum powder.

It will be appreciated that many variations as possible. For example, the cover B may carry a block of pages as described whilst the page A may carry a series of scent sachets or the like.

It is contemplated that a book or booklet according to the invention may be sold or supplied under the name"Booquette"or"Bookette".

Preferably, as shown, the cover A is somewhat longer (in terms of distance from spine C) than cover B so that after the book has been closed, an edge flap E of the cover A can be folded over, about the broken line shown in Figure 1, onto the back of cover B as shown in Figure 3 and secured to the back of cover B. For example, flap E may be gummed so that it can be moistened, folded over and permanently stuck to the back of cover B to hold the book securely in the closed state, until it is opened by an intended recipient. A rear. strip, for example, defined by two rows (not shown) of perforations at substantially the location of the broken line in Figure A, may be torn out by the recipient to allow the book to be opened. A detachable seal F may be provided to allow the flap E to be re-sealed after the initial opening of the book by tearing out the tear strip, the seal F having, for example, permanently tacky adhesive on one side.

Alternatively, reusable sealing means may be provided which is self- sealing to secure the front cover A to the back cover B, with the block D of pages therebetween, simply as a result of closing the book.

The book may be an item intended to be send through the post and may, for example, have a picture, on the front of cover A and markings on the back of cover B delineating an area for a postage stamp.

The inside of cover A may afford space for a personal message which will, of course, remain private whilst the book is closed and flap E remains stuck to cover B.

The seal F may carry on its outer face a simple message, such as"From me to you"or"I love you". It is envisaged that when the book is purchased, the purchaser may be afforded a choice of seals F from a selection of such, allowing additional"personalisation".

When used in this specification, the terms"comprises"and"comprising" and variations thereof mean that the specified features, steps or integers are included. The terms are not to be interpreted to exclude the presence of other features, steps or components.

The features disclosed in the foregoing description, or the accompanying drawings, expressed in their specific forms or in terms of a means for performing the disclosed function, or a method or process for attaining the disclosed result, as appropriate, may, separately, or in any combination of such features, be utilised for realising the invention in diverse forms thereof.
