Abstract:
An in-wheel motor system in which an in-wheel motor (3) is supported on a knuckle
(5) as the underbody component of a vehicle through a damping mechanism having
a direct-acting guide (12) with springs formed of a direct-acting guide (12A)and
upper and lower spring members (12B, 12C) formed integrally with each other.
The spring member (12B) disposed on the upper side of the direct-acting guide
(12A) installed on a knuckle side plate (11) is formed in a square shape in cross
section, its cross sectional area is increased to secure the spring constant
of the upper side spring member (12B), and the numbers of turns of the spring members
(12B, 12C) are increased to secure the durability of the spring members (12B,
12C). A rib member (20) with a cutout part (20k) is formed on the inner peripheral
side of a non-rotating side case (3a), and upper and lower receiving members (14A,
14B) for guide receiving the rod (12b) of the direct-acting guide (12) with the
springs and the rod (13b) of a second direct-acting guide (13) are disposed at
the cutout part (20k) so that the stroke widths of the spring members (12B) and
(12C) can be sufficiently secured.
