Abstract:
An index device in which a rotatable member (32), which is supported on support members (22, 24, 26) so that the rotatable member (32) can be turned around its axis and moved axially between an indexing position and a positioning position, is rotated intermittently by a predetermined angle at a time by a turning mechanism provided with a one-way clutch (90). In this device, an intermediate member (124) adapted to be turned at an angle in a predetermined range and urged in one direction by a spring member is provided on the support member (26) so that a locking portion (114) of the rotatable member (32) and intermediate member (124) are engaged with each other when the rotatable member (32) is turned, to prevent the rotatable member (32) from being excessively turned by an inertial force thereof.
