Abstract:
Disclosed is an inducer for the increasing of the content of a cytoprotective amino acid (methionine and/or homocysteine) in a living body, which comprises at least one component selected from the group consisting of carbon monooxide, protoheme IX, protoporphyrin IX, dopamine and dobutamine, wherein protoheme IX, protoporphyrin IX, dopamine and dobutamine have an effect of increasing the content of carbon monooxide in a living body. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical composition (kit) for use in the protection of a cell or the treatment of an disorder in a cell, which comprises at least one component selected from the group consisting of carbon monooxide, protoheme IX, protoporphyrin IX, dopamine, dobutamine, methionine and homocysteine.
