Abstract:
Provided are induction electric motor overheat monitoring method and device that make it possible to detect induction electric motor overheat only from the detected value of a current sensor without requiring many sensors as in conventional cases. First, resistance calculation-related data indicating a relationship between the resistance of an induction electric motor and a feature amount during startup and a criterion value for determining overheat are stored in advance. During an operation period in which the starting and stopping of the electric motor is frequently repeated, the current of the induction electric motor is detected during each startup, a phase angle is obtained from the detected current to calculate a signal relating to a phase angle difference, and the feature amount of the electric motor is calculated from the signal relating to the phase angle difference. Further, the resistance of the induction electric motor is calculated using the feature amount of the electric motor and the resistance calculation reference data stored in advance. The temperature of the induction electric motor is then calculated from the resistance of the induction electric motor, and the calculated temperature of the induction electric motor and the criterion value are compared with each other to determine whether the induction electric motor is in an overheat state or not.
