Abstract:
An induction plasma furnace comprises a refractory crucible (1) embraced by an inductor (2), a plasmatron (3) mounted above the crucible (1) and connected to a power source (4) and a hearth electrode (5) mounted in the bottom of the crucible (1) and connected to the power source (4) of the plasmatron (3) through a switching device (6). The upper part of the crucible (1) consists of a cooled metallic ring (8) electrically connected to the switching device (6).
