Abstract:
An inertial press fitting method for press fitting two members to each other by imparting a kinetic energy to at least one of the two members in a mutually approaching direction, wherein the relative positions of the two members (10, 12) at the end of press fitting are specified by bringing the tip end face (80) of the first member (10) into contact with the bottom face (82) of the second member (12) for the purpose of stabilizing the relative positions of the two members at the end of press fitting and a kinetic energy remaining in at least one of the members (10, 12) immediately after the contact is absorbed by the plastic deformation of at least one of the members (10, 12) to thereby stabilize the relative positions of the members at the end of press fitting. In addition, increased plastic ductilities of the members (10, 12) will show a maximum value on a graph drawn on coordinates with kinetic energy on the horizontal axis and relative position deviation between the members on the vertical axis. By selecting the plastic ductilities of the members so as to minimize a maximum value, a relative position deviation can be reduced even if a control accuracy of the imported kinetic energy is low.
