Abstract:
An infinitely variable planetary gear transmission is a kind of mechanical infinitely variable transmission composed of planetary gear sets. This transmission makes full use of two degrees of freedom of the planetary gear sets to infinitely variable shift. It mainly comprises two planetary gear sets and a gear ratio controlling mechanism. These two planetary gear sets can transmit power with two degrees of freedom, one set is the main planetary gear set and the other one is the auxiliary planetary gear set. Any two basic elements (35,36) of the main planetary gear set can couple to, engage with, or be formed into one piece with any two basic elements (38,36) of the auxiliary planetary gear set. Another element (34) of the main planetary gear set serves as a driving element of transmission, another element (40) of the auxiliary planetary gear set serves as a driven element. The gear ratio controlling mechanism can control the maximum speed ratio and the minimum speed ratio between driving element and driven element, i.e. control the speed ratio not increasing when reached the maximum value and not decreasing when reached the minimum value. This transmission has compact structure, reliable operation and wide range of transmission. It can positive infinitely variable transmit between the maximum speed ratio and the minimum speed ratio according to the change of input power and output load.
