Abstract:
A polarized image acquiring unit 20 acquires polarized images in a plurality of polarization directions. A reflection information generating unit 30 generates reflection information indicating a reflection component, from the polarized images in the plurality of polarization directions as acquired by the polarized image acquiring unit 20. A reflection information utilizing unit 40 uses the reflection information generated by the reflection information generating unit 30 to acquire an image of a visual target object that is reflected in the polarized images. Further, a depth estimating unit estimates a depth value of a reflecting surface region, and the position of the visual target object is acquired on the basis of the estimated depth value and the image of the visual target object, as reflected in the reflecting surface region. A visual target object that is positioned in a blind spot region, for example, can thus be confirmed easily.
