Abstract:

Provided are an information display device for displaying image information of a virtual image on a windshield of a vehicle, and an information display method therefor. The information display device is provided with a display which displays the image information, and a virtual image optical system which causes the virtual image to be displayed in front of the vehicle by reflecting light emitted from the display by the windshield. The virtual image optical system includes a concave mirror and an optical element, and the optical element is disposed between the display and the concave mirror, and configured to correct distortion of the virtual image obtained according to the viewpoint position of a driver in accordance with the shape of the concave mirror and the shape of the optical element, and includes a means or step for forming the virtual image generated by an image light flux being reflected by the front surface and the back surface of the windshield in a field-of-view distance region exceeding the discrimination limit range of the driver or around the discrimination limit range by adjusting the position of the virtual image to be formed according to an image light incidence angle on the windshield and the curvature radius of the windshield in front of the position of the driver's line of sight.
