Abstract:
When a liquid display panel is used as an image light source, this compact information display device displays image information as a virtual image using an ocular optical system that includes a concave mirror having desired reflective characteristics in a specific polarization direction. According to a representative embodiment, a liquid crystal display panel is disposed as a planar display for forming image information, and a virtual image optical system includes a member where the image is projected, the member causing the image projected thereon to be reflected from the liquid crystal display panel so as to cause a virtual image to be displayed at the front of a vehicle. The virtual image optical system is provided with a concave mirror. A reflecting film on the concave mirror has the desired reflective characteristic in a specific polarization direction, thereby obtaining the virtual image having uniform brightness and chromaticity.
