Abstract:
Provided is a compact information display device for displaying video information on a reflective surface as a virtual image, wherein the occurrence of double images is reduced. The information display device for displaying virtual video information on the reflective surface in a vehicle includes a display for displaying the video information and a virtual image optical system that displays the virtual image in front of the vehicle with light emitted from the display being reflected by the reflective surface. The virtual image optical system includes a concave mirror and an optical element. The optical element is disposed between the display and the concave mirror and is configured such that the shape of the concave mirror and the shape of the optical element serve to correct the distortion of the virtual image generated in accordance with a driver's viewpoint. The information display device is thus provided with a means for reducing double virtual images generated by a video light flux reflected from the front surface and the rear surface of the reflective surface.
