Abstract:
Provided is an information display device (100) that displays video information of a virtual image on the windshield (5) of a vehicle, wherein: the information display device (100) comprises a housing (6); a part of the housing includes an opening (41) and a transparent cover provided over the opening (4); the housing stores a video light generation means (3) that generates video light for displaying video information and an optical system (1) that allows a driver of the vehicle to recognize the video information as a virtual image in front of the windshield (5), the video information displayed using video light from the video light generation means (3); given that S polarized light is defined as a first polarized wave relative to the windshield (5) and polarized light with the polarization direction perpendicular to the first polarized wave is defined as a second polarized wave, the video light generation means (3) is configured to generate the video light using the first polarized wave; and the information display device (100) is provided with transmittance and reflectance control means (1 or 2) for blocking part of the second polarized wave and first polarized wave of external light that enters the housing (6) through the opening (41). The information display device (100) has significantly improved sunlight resistance.
