Abstract:
Disclosed is an information-processing device and the like with which the amount of multimedia data discarded after downloading can be reduced, even when the bit rate of content is not known in advance. This information-processing device is equipped with: a temporary storage means that temporarily stores multimedia data received from a distribution server that distributes multimedia files in response to a distribution request from a terminal; a header detection means that detects whether information used in the calculation of the bit rate for that multimedia data is included in the multimedia data stored in the temporary storage means; a rate calculation means that calculates the bit rate for the multimedia data on the basis of the information detected by the header detection means; and a data transmission means that reads the multimedia data from the temporary storage means on the basis of the bit rate calculated by the rate calculation means, and transmits the multimedia data to the terminal.
