The present technology relates to an information processing device and an information processing method which enable recognition accuracy of the position of a moving body to be improved. This information processing device is provided with: a self-position recognition unit which is provided to a moving body, and which, on the basis of an image captured from the moving body, recognizes a first self-position, i.e. an absolute position of the moving body; a moving body recognition unit which recognizes the relative position between the moving body and another moving body in an image captured from the moving body; a communication unit which communicates with the other moving body, and acquires the absolute position of the other moving body; and a self-position calculation unit which, on the basis of the absolute position of the other moving body and the relative position of the other moving body, calculates a second self-position, i.e. an absolute position of the moving body. The present technology is applicable to systems for recognizing the position of a vehicle.
