Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to an information processing device and a method which enable to suppress a decrease in encoding efficiency. The information processing device is provided for processing attribute information on each point of a point cloud in which an object having a three-dimensional shape is expressed as a set of points. From among points categorized into predicted points and reference points, a difference value between a predicted value of attribute information on the predicted points and the attribute information on the predicted points is derived, the predicted points being derived by using attribute information on the reference points. In the layering of the attribute information by recursively repeating the derivation for the reference points, a first level is layered by using a first layering method and a second level different from the first level is layered by using a second layering method different from the first layering method. The present disclosure is applicable, for example, to information processing devices, image processing devices, encoding devices, decoding devices, electronic devices, information processing methods, programs, or the like.
