The present technology relates to an information processing device and an information processing method that make it possible to easily designate a desired range within an object in XR. The information processing device comprises: an object recognition unit that recognizes a condition of a target object, which is a real object or a virtual object that is present in a user's field of view; an operation body recognition unit that recognizes a condition of an operation body, which is a real object or a virtual object that the user uses in the setting of a designated range with regard to the target object; and a designated range setting unit that sets the designated range on the basis of at least one of the condition of the target object and the condition of the operation body. The present technology is applicable to a head-mounted display (HMD), for example.
