A program which is executed by an information processing system makes it possible to increase the likelihood that data corresponding to a measured location can be used even when the information processing system cannot receive data from a device, while the storage capacity of the information processing system is prevented from becoming limited. Data which is used by the program is stored in association with a location by a server. An item communication unit (72) receives, from the server, data associated with a location within an area having a first size and including a location measured by a positioning unit (60). When the location associated with the data received by the item communication unit (72) is within an area having a second size smaller than the first size and including the location measured by the positioning unit (60), an item notification unit (74) issues an external notification to that effect. An application execution unit (66) uses the data received by the item communication unit (72) to execute the program.
