Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] It is possible to provide a device and a method capable of starting an information processing system without any trouble even if a boot block is destroyed by some cause during a start process of the system. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The information processing system includes: a rewritable ROM containing a plurality of ROM images, each of which can be booted and contains a BIOS program; a comparison circuit which compares data contents of each of the plurality of ROM images; and an address switching device for switching to a normal ROM image by the output of the comparison result of the data contents of the respective ROM images in the comparison circuit. The system is started by using the normal ROM image. Furthermore, a destroyed ROM image is rewritten into a normal ROM image for the next start.
