Abstract:

The present invention effectively reduces congestion on a transportation system while minimizing operational costs. This information processing system for managing information related to the operation of a transportation system forecasts the demand for the transportation system, manages the timetable for the transportation system, manages fare information for the transportation system, generates a proposed change to the timetable and/or fare according to the result of the forecasted demand, and applies the proposed change to the timetable information or the fare information. This information processing system generates a proposed change when the amount of increase in demand over a certain time period becomes a preset first threshold or more. This information processing system generates both a proposed timetable change and a proposed fare change if the amount of increase in demand is a second threshold or more; generates a proposed timetable change if the amount of increase in demand is less than the second threshold and the time period in which the demand is forecasted is a time period in which congestion is anticipated; and generates a proposed fare change if the amount of increase in demand is less than the second threshold and the time period in which the demand is forecasted is not a time period in which congestion is anticipated.
