Abstract:
The present invention improves availability, without having to provide for each relay device an auxiliary communication line that provides a redundant communication line connecting the relay device and a server, in an information processing system that is dispersed over a wide area. A relay device 160 serves as a relay between a first communication unit 161 connected to a first communication line and communicating with a server 91 and a second communication unit 162 connected to a second communication line and communicating with a device 92. An auxiliary relay device 260 serves as a relay between a third communication unit 261 connected to a third communication line and capable of communicating with the server 91 and a fourth communication unit 262 capable of being configured so as to connect to the second communication line. When a malfunction detection unit 601 detects a malfunction in the first communication line a communication path configuration control unit 602 controls the relay device 160 and the auxiliary relay device 260 to configure the fourth communication unit 262 so as to connect to the second communication line and establish a substitute communication path for the first communication line. In addition, a delivery control unit 603 performs control so as to deliver the auxiliary relay device 260 to a location at which it is possible to connect to the second communication line.
