Provided is an information provision system which is structured such that a portable terminal device acquires provided information containing character data from an information distribution server device, transmits partial data which is a portion of the character data to a voice synthesis server device, acquires voice data which is data for which the partial data have been converted to voice from the voice synthesis server device, and instructs display of provided information corresponding to the voice data using a vehicle-mounted device when a predetermined notification is received from the vehicle-mounted device; whereupon the vehicle-mounted device displays the information from the portable terminal device, plays back the voice data, and if a selection operation by the user is received, notifies the portable terminal device that there has been a selection operation.
