Abstract:

The information recording medium is capable of recording data utilizing a laser beam. The information recording medium has n (n is an integer equal to 3 or greater) information recording layers that are stacked together, wherein each of the aforementioned n information recording layers has a test recording area for determining the recording power of the aforementioned laser beam. Counting the aforementioned n information recording layers starting from the side farthest from the incident plane of the aforementioned laser beam, the difference between the radial position of the outer circumferential part of the test recording area that is disposed toward the inner circumference, and the radial position of the inner circumferential part of the test recording area that is disposed toward the outer circumference, within the test recording area of the ith (i is an integer that satisfies 2 ≦ i ≦ n – 1) information recording layer and the test recording area of the (i + 1)th information recording layer, is greater than the difference between the radial position of the outer circumferential part of the test recording area that is disposed toward the inner circumference and the radial position of the inner circumferential part of the test recording area that is disposed toward the outer circumference, within the test recording area of the jth (j is an integer that satisfies 1 ≦ j ≦ i – 1) information recording layer and the test recording area of the (j + 1)th information recording layer.
