Abstract:
In a multilayer recording type information recording medium, tracking control for both heading from an inner periphery side to an outer periphery side and for heading from an outer periphery side to an inner periphery side are made possible upon tracks of a single spiral that are on a guide layer. An information recording medium (11) is provided with a guide layer (12) upon which single spiral tracks (TR) have been formed beforehand, and a plurality of recording layers (13) which are layered upon the guide layer. The guide layer possesses (i) a main area which is spiraled such that each time the track laps around, the area is displaced at a predetermined pace toward one side of the outer periphery side and the inner periphery side, and (ii) switching areas (SWR1 and SWR2) which are formed so that the track is locally displaced in a radial direction at a more abrupt pace than the predetermined pace in order to guide the track to the side other than the first-mentioned outer periphery side or the inner periphery side for one track lap only.
