Abstract:
In the present disclosures, a first error pattern generated by the shifting of a bit relating to the shortest recording mark or space, and a second error pattern generated by edge displacement of a recording mark are used. A pattern obtained by normalizing—using the square of the Euclidean distance between a correct pattern and an error pattern—the difference between the square of the Euclidean distance between the error pattern and a reproduced signal and the square of the Euclidean distance between the correct pattern and the reproduced signal is detected for each of a plurality of error patterns. Also, length error and phase error are computed from the sum or the difference of a first pattern shift amount normalized with respect to the first error pattern and a second pattern shift amount normalized with respect to the second error pattern.
