Provided are: an infrared blocking filter which has excellent absorption characteristics in a near-infrared wavelength band and high visible light transmittance; a solid-state imaging element; and an imaging device. An infrared absorption layer of an infrared blocking filter or a solid-state imaging element is made to contain a diimonium dye which has a skeletal structure represented by chemical formula (A), and wherein at least one of R9, R12, R13, R16, R17, R20, R21 and R24 moieties that are respective four phenyl groups bonded to a nitrogen atom in two iminium structures is an alkyl group having 1-16 carbon atoms, a haloalkyl group having 1-16 carbon atoms and one or more halogen atoms, or the like. (In chemical formula (A), each of R1-R8 moieties represents a chain or cyclic alkyl group or a group obtained by substituting one or more hydrogen atoms in the alkyl group with a halogen, an alkoxy group, an alkanoyloxy group, an amino group, a thiol group, a mercapto group or a hydroxyl group, and the R1-R8 moieties may be the same as or different from each other; and X- represents an anion.)
