Abstract:

An ink cartridge (7), wherein an ink flow path (7f) is formed from an ink storage chamber to an ink feed port and flow path control means (7j) capable of opening and closing the ink flow path by receiving a drive force from an actuator (32) is disposed in the ink flow path, a negative pressure is accumulated in an internal space of capping means (9) with the flow path control means (7j) closed and the flow path control means (7j) is opened so as to effectively discharge air bubbles (A1) accumulated, particularly, on a filter member (22) inside an ink feed needle (21) to a capping means (9) side, and the flow path control means (7j) is disposed on an ink cartridge side, whereby, because the flow control means (7j) is also replaced each time the ink cartridge is replaced, the reliability of a printing function recovering operation by cleaning operation performed by the accumulation of a negative pressure can also be increased.
